Detail of Waxwings (December 2008) by Anne Gilchrist Anne creates work that reflects her lifelong passion for the natural world.

In her paintings, Anne portrays plants and birds as a vital, indistinguishable part of the landscape. Sharp detail mingles into the bigger picture to show places as  a sum total of plant communities and bird habitats.

" I increasingly see the unique in nature, the specific, a sense of place, the connections between plants, insects, birds, and animals, and find wider issues are reflected in this detail. I always try to be as open as possible to whatever my subject-matter shows me. Finding myself in a state of uncertainty and discovery brings about a truer representation of what I see."

Anne is willing to consider commissions (both drawing and paintings); click here to see. Some of the works on this web site are for sale; please apply to info@annegilchrist.co.uk
