All the wildlife in this picture is very common, including the brambles, which have rampaged over other ecologies on the globe, ruining them. There are however corn bunting, yellowhammer, tree-sparrow and lapwing - all siginifiers of a time when we lived more in harmony with our environment, when farming was local, horse-based, and farmers in tune with their land. It's also my tribute to childhood friends that I first got to know, my discovery of the extraordinary in a very ordinary countryside.
