I was at Canterbury College of Art in the 1980's (gaining a BA (Hons) degree
in Fine Art) still in the days of Art School Abstact Expressionism - but spent
many of my days cycling through the Kent countryside enjoying the nightingales
and painting in the open air, or going up to London to set up my easel in front
of the Old Masters in the National Gallery. I then went on to do a post graduate
diploma in the History of Art at Oxford University, where I concentrated on the
Renaissance.
I've been based in Edinburgh for 25 years, bringing up a family, and now teaching the violin and playing it too, as well as painting. Now I have a proper studio again at last I am trying to devote more time to painting, bringing a lifetimes interest and preoccupation with nature into my work.
I am exhibiting this summer at the Restaurant at Kailzie Gardens, Peebleshire, from 21st July to the end of August. I am delighted to be showing again at the Society of Wildlife Artists Annual Exhibition in the Mall Galleries which this year runs from 21st September to 2nd October.
